Listen I am neither a sales person, nor am I affiliated with any mattress store or company. I am a consumer who just loves my memory foam mattress so much that I want you to feel the same way too!
I was as skeptical as the rest when I first entertained the thought of buying a memory foam bed. I had always heard stuff like "memory foam gets too hot," "memory foam beds will hurt your back," but it wasn't until I had the opportunity to try one that my mind was changed forever.
Sealy Posturepedic Pillow
The thought of buying a new mattress crossed my mind shortly after sleeping on a Dormia mattress for the first time at my friend's guest bedroom. For my entire life I had always slept on a Sealy Posturepedic, and although I liked it, sleeping on memory foam was a welcome change. I found out the first night how comfortable this new type of bed was. Laying down my body immediately felt different as I prepared to fall asleep. Being a side sleeper I noticed how the foam conformed to the curves of my body, and supported my sides and hips, and subsequently took pressure off of my lower back. Initially the bed was cool, like the underside of a pillow, but as my body heat interacted with the memory foam mattress the material began to heat up as well. Not hot, but warm from the convection of my body heat. This subtle heat is what helped the mattress mimic the shape of my body and provide support. This was cool!
I knew I had to have one for myself, and the following week before moving into my new apartment I went on a search for the best foam mattress on the market! I soon found this quest to be overwhelming and challenging, as I discovered that most respected mattress brands carried a line of memory foam beds. The only way for me to figure out which one was for me was to try them all.
I went down to my local Sleepy's store, talked with the salesperson, and laid down on almost all of their beds. As I danced around all of his salesman "doubletalk" I began to hear what I wanted to know. As far as memory foam mattresses went, Tempurpedic was the obvious industry leader. Unfortunately at a cost of several grand for a basic bed Tempurpedic was out of my league. I then inquired about the Dormia brand which I had stayed on at my friend's house, and I learned that Dormia beds were available via their website as well as their Dormia retail stores. Unfortunately I didn't live near one, and seeing as I was already at a mattress store I decided to stay put and look at what was available. The salesman suggested I try both the Miralux mattress, which is Sleepy's house brand, or Posturetemp, which is manufactured by the same company that makes the Dormia bed. Posturetemp apparently is manufactured exclusively for Sleepy's. Both foam mattresses felt similar in comfort to my experience at my friend's house. After much debate I decided to go with the Posturetemp Serenade foam mattress. I do not regret my purchase. Marketing hype of aside, as a consumer I truly believe that my new memory foam bed has done great things for my sleep cycle. I now toss and turn far less in the night, and find that I have been waking up much more rested. I also haven't had any problems adjusting to the new sleeping surface, which has been nice. The tightness I used to wake up with in my lower back has subsided. I am so amazed with the results I have seen from my new bed that I wanted to share my experience with as many people as possible. I truly believe that if you just give memory foam a chance you will not look back! Take the plunge!
